January brings about a fresh start for all of us. What are your family's goals for 2017? We're challenging our #FamilyTrails community to make 2017 a year of adventure.

Our theme for January is "Goals" and the hashtag is #FT_Goals. Read on for more details on how to participate.

Big or small, near or far, we can all learn through adventure.

Whether it's a specific destination, a hiking distance, or taking more days to get out and play, talk to your family about what you want to explore this year, and set some adventure goals together! Then share your thoughts with us on Instagram using #FT_Goals.

Because we have been happily overwhelmed with the quality of submissions, we pick four participants each month to receive FamilyTrails swag. Each swag recipient will be announced on Thursdays during the theme period. We will then feature a round up on our blog at the end of the month.

The most IMPORTANT part: in order to be considered to win, you must follow the new instructions written below.

Instructions:

1.) Post your theme photo from a public account between Sunday, January 1st and 11:59pm EST on Tuesday, January 24th, 2017. There is no limit to the number of entries each account can share and tag.

2.) Use #FT_Goals and #FamilyTrails in your original caption.

3.) In your caption, include a few sentences explaining how your photo relates to the theme.

You must follow the above rules to qualify for the prize. Swag recipients will be chosen based on the post's adherence to the aforementioned rules, image quality, caption quality, and overall creativity.
