Every day, we are presented with a choice on how we spend our time. We can either miss the moments or cherish them. I now understand what other mothers mean when they say, "the days are long, but the years are short so enjoy your children while they're young, because they grow up so quickly." I heard that a lot, and I am now saying it, too.
We all know it's true that kids grow up too fast and not every moment is enjoyable as a parent, but our children are only little once. Needless to say, as difficult as it may seem, step back and try to enjoy the hidden beauty of drawings on the wall, toys all over the floor and a messy house.
Don't make the mistake of waiting for your kids to grow up before you go out and travel together. Don't think that they won't remember it. Family adventure isn't about them remembering the things that you've seen and done on your weekend explorations or weeklong travels. It's about creating shared experiences as a family, learning and growing together.
