Since the birth of our daughter, Akilah, Jaxon has taken a seat on the sidelines as the baby of the house. He is now the middle child, typically the one who gets lost among the oldest and youngest children. We have no qualms about Jaxon becoming the "middle child," for we have his gregarious personality to thank.
Two years ago, we took a spur-of-the-moment trip to Wisconsin Dells, something we had been wanting to do all summer. The opportunity to travel came three days before Jayden's first day school, so what did we do? We made last minute reservations, hopped in our truck, and made the four-hour road trip!
I'll admit it. I have high and sometimes unrealistic expectations for summer vacations and activities. Having lived in the Midwest my entire life, I'm conditioned to want to bust out of the joint every summer.
