Each month, Family Trails shares a theme to guide and inspire your Instagram storytelling.
In August, we changed up the format of our monthly photography challenges.
First and foremost, our photo challenge hashtag changed. Previously, we asked you to use #FamilyTrailsTales to submit to the monthly theme. Starting in August, each month we will announce a NEW hashtag that coincides with the specific theme. Our theme for August was "Local Treasures."
There are countless experiences available right in our backyards - so we asked you to get creative and share them with #FT_LocalTreasures!
Because we have been happily overwhelmed with the quality of submissions, in August, we decided we will now be picking four participants each month to receive FamilyTrails swag. Each swag recipient will be announced on Thursdays during the theme period.
So without further ado, here were the winning photos & stories from August's #FT_LocalTreasures challenge!
The lovely and always supportive @thequesnelles tagged me to post #onefromthecuttingroomfloor Thank you for the tag! @thatpastorwife and @niccrocker Do you have one from the cutting room floor to share? No pressure of course!
Flying at sunset 》seeing our home through our friends' eyes has given us a new appreciation for where we live. Travel made us long for new places, but exploring our local region reminds us how good we have it here--beaches, walkable community, state and national parks, not far from a few awesome cities, mild summers, and amazing neighbors that have become more like friends--make this the home for us. ♡ What do you LOVE about where you live? #ft_localtreasures #familytrails

Living in one of the least visited states, many would think there must be nothing to see or do here. But they would be pleasantly surprised to learn that there is an abundance of wonderful things to do in North Dakota. @familytrails inspired me to get out and rediscover some of the places that we love close to home. Little Yellowestone, a small county park, is without a doubt our favorite place to get outside and get into nature. The small icy spring-fed stream provides endless afternoons of rock throwing, stick sailing, and all around exploring. It's so great to have a treasure so close to home for us to unplug and connect with nature. #ft_localtreasures #familytrails
